"Oni yori haruka ni tsuyoi"...

"Stronger than any demon."

[BZZZZAP!] ...again? Isn't it enough that I'm thinking out loud so that others can hear me like this?

[He takes a deep breath, and then slowly lets it out in a sigh.] Fine. I don't normally ask questions like this, but I'll try it this time. As long as it will appease your little spies, or this stupid machine.

I have been thinking about names, and how the nations here have human names. It was something that the one called China told me about some time ago.

Why must humans name everything? Nothing is real to you until you've named it, given it limits.

Why does something need to be named, and what does the name you've been given mean to you?

[With the current mode switched on, listeners won't have the pleasure of knowing that Haruka has been getting buzzed incessantly since his time limit became overdue.]

[...] I would like to know more about the scientist known as Ace, or "Sweet One."

Also, about any other scientists that have been in contact with the people who were living in this city for over a year. Not for games, but as people.

[He never took an interest before, but... what [livejournal.com profile] sing_nonomori was able to tell him about Ace before has him a little interested. Especially considering what has been happening in the city lately.]
onikui_tengu: (speechless)
The air is changing again.

Here, the weather has been been sunny and clear. Some of the healthy grass grows near the lake and in the forest, but has a harder time in the city. If there are any wild flowers, then they don't live long either.
There's not enough water or shade, or else the earth is too rotten.

While back home, it wouldn't be long before the rainy season would be upon us.

[...] Sometimes its unsettling to me, just how different things are here. You can only look at the mountains from here...
onikui_tengu: (just not in the mood)
This world is called "Fortuna."

A brand new world. Not just a broken city.

Yet you can only go so far until you get knocked down, injured, stricken by disease or killed here. Starved, brutally ripped apart by monsters, crushed or left helpless without a cure...

Even birds can't fly in the sky with total freedom. Because the sky we see everyday might as well just be an illusion. You can only go so high before you're forced back down to the ground.

Being stuck here is like being trapped inside of a rusted steel cage every single day.

[...]

...this city irritates me.
onikui_tengu: (...)
[You can just hear the heavy tone of sarcasm in his voice.]

Aah... It got away again. What a shame.

[Click.]

Moa-san, if that youkai ever appears before you again, then just let Kantarou or I know. We'll take care of it.

As for everyone else... Keukegen escaped. The only ones who need to worry about it now are the ones with long, dark hair.

But it probably won't be seen for awhile. It tends to keep out of sight, for the most part.

[That being said, he switches back to voice mode.]

It has been awhile since Watanuki-kun has been heard from again. I wonder if ...Hmph.

I've been curious about something. Who else in this city possesses a powerful sixth sense? Not that it matters much here. Yuurei seem to appear to anyone they're willing to show themselves to.
onikui_tengu: (unknowing glance)
[There is a pause, though Haruka can be heard humming thoughtfully in the background as he examines the karasu tengu mask he received for Halloween.]

... Oi, Kantarou.

You can have this. I have no interest in holding onto it.

[...] I still don't trust eating this thing. What is it, anyway? It's orange.

Hm. About before... Don't people usually appear on those boxes when they start to work like that? Nothing happened this time. Though the air felt different... I'm surprised that I didn't see any youkai appear.

...and what was that scream? I have a bad feeling about this.

[...] I wonder if Bonten predicted that he would be returning home soon through his Heaven's Net.

[[ooc Strikes = thoughts/unhackable]]
onikui_tengu: (unknowing glance)
Basically, waiting for this illness to "fade" has only proved impossible. Either the affected wind up dying, or the ones who don't have the strength to fight them.

I have no interest in pointing fingers... What I'd like to know instead is why there doesn't seem to be a better solution. Is there no way to develop a medicine to cure or a seal to bind these people?

Their powers and strength are the real problem. Because they can only use it to harm. It is beyond their control to do otherwise. I haven't been proven wrong yet.

Hmph. If anyone sees death as the quickest method of turning this around... You've let this world change you too much. ...You've let them change you too much.
onikui_tengu: (I've had enough of this!)
It's been happening a lot lately. People being returned to this city from their original worlds. Sometimes with the memories they had before, and some without.

Even I'm not counted out of that number. I can remember where I've been.

But what I want to know is the reason why; not that I expect an answer. Not from the people who would actually have it. ...Why the indecisiveness? Isn't one time good enough for you, Scientists?
Hell. I can't tell if this is something you do out of convenience, or if all you are doing is laughing at all of us.

[...]

What about you, Hunter? This must be convenient for you. You don't have to look far to find your prey anymore. ...Che.

[The frequency is promptly switched off.]
onikui_tengu: (......)
Hmph. [A powerful wing beat is picked up by the microphone. Muffled, but still there. It lasts only a moment before a soft thump can be heard. The sound of a pair of feet landing on a rooftop.]

[Haruka breathes out a sigh, before walking forward a few steps and sitting down.]

I hardly feel any different from before. Except now I could use a drink.

...If anyone had any words for me over the past few days, I hope you saved them. I didn't have the time to listen before.

The messages in the high school... they've disappeared. No one tried to scrub them away, because there are no markings left behind.

[...]

The revivals... they're chosen. With the ghosts that were wandering through the city, how many of you noticed it?

There had to be a time when death stopped for us. Because they weren't so lucky. It's no wonder that they were acting so restless.

Hmph... [Spoken quietly, as if to someone very closeby. That just so happens to be Succubus perched on his shoulder.] We've both been through quite the ordeal, huh?

It's getting noisy again.

...Humans have been able to survive for centuries in my own world without ever having to rely on magic or special abilities. What makes the people of this one so different? Always begging like animals...

I'll never understand it. How you can you not see that the scientists have managed to keep us under their thumbs with those chips, only to watch us evntually destroy ourselves later.

Do you really think that it is nothing but a mistake? ...It's all so stu-

[Haruka's voice is suddenly cut off as he lets out a sharp gasp, dropping the communicator onto the floor with a clatter. For a moment, he can be heard breathing harshly, and this continues for a minute or two until there is a soft thud as he falls down onto his knees.] Augh... what is-... [His voice becomes strained, as he is obviously trying to hold himself back. But it is futile. In mere seconds, the tengu lets out a loud and agonized scream of pain, as if it doing so will somehow make it all come to an end.]

[There is an even louder thud. The sound of a body collapsing. More harsh breathing can be heard, followed by coughing and a bit of dry retching. It takes minutes for his breathing to become even again, and for Haruka's voice to be heard again... distant, and weakened.]

What in the hell... was that just now...?
onikui_tengu: (are you even listening to yourself?)
Hm. Is it really only that little hairball that has been able to slip into this city from our world? Keukegen... It better stay away from my hair, or else I'll make sure that it never comes near me again.

There are no oni, barely any yuurei worth mentioning... Hell, there isn't even an amefurikozō. This city completely lacks any spiritual presence, save for a few. It's unnatural. ...No wonder you're so clingy and irritable all the time, Kantarou.

...

Since everyone has been in the mood for questions lately, I think that I have been able to come up with one myself.

What exactly is a monster to you, Discedo?
onikui_tengu: (black wings)
There are times when monsters and spirits can be worse than anything that the human race can come up with... and times when just the opposite can be true.

There is no better. But for one to pretend to be the other is just fooling yourself... Yes... I have no reason to change.

...

Celebrating the new year in this city... what an unusual feeling. It feels like there is so much that has fallen out of place from being away from our own world like this.

Old habits, and traditions. ...Hm. My kimono was left behind, wasn't it.

It doesn't even feel like that much time has passed, and I'm still not used to the cold here either.

Though it looks like I have some seeds to plant now... I don't think that I will. I have no reason to trust something that arrived so suspiciously. Better to give them to Kantarou to do with them as he likes.

[...]

Why is that plant still here anyway? It's gotten hard to work like this...

[[ooc If anyone has gone to the bar recently, Haruka has a small white bandage on his right cheek. It's from getting sucker punched by Kantarou in a recent spat. If asked about it, he will say that he tripped and fell. (It's actually not that bad. He's just embarrassed by it.) Italics are spoken Japanese.]]
onikui_tengu: (dressed for success)
It's cold. I think that I'd rather be inside... Especially with all the commotion outside and over the network.

[...]

You were right, Shinjiro. A roof is no place to sleep in the winter. ...Maybe I've just gotten used to falling on old habits.

Stop by for some hot cocoa, if you wish. I think this is one of the few chances that he'll ever be feeling this generous. Or at least the powder won't last forever.

Is this what you wanted? You wanted to be the one left standing as a human, even after fighting like a-...

It's like you're a living contradiction. That part of you never fails to piss me off, and keeps making me think about things I shouldn't have to.

It's not the same. The only common ground we have is from circumstance... that's all. I cannot say that I ever wish to change, because I hardly even know where to begin in the first place.

... You never should have been the one to stop me, and I won't let that happen again.

[There is little other sound that can be heard, until the communicator is put down deliberately somewhere with a soft clatter. A few footsteps follow, along with the familiar metallic jingle from the rings on Haruka's shakujou and the creak of a door as it swings closed.]

[[ooc Haruka is brooding. Between leaving at the end of his shift at the Northern Lights and returning to his room at the high school, he's been wandering the city in search of Dio or training with his weapon alone. It's been like this for him over the past several days, and so he is likely to have a few cuts and bruises to show for his efforts by the time this entry was posted.]]
onikui_tengu: (are you even listening to yourself?)
What is going on now? All this talk about yuurei... There's only one that I'm interested in finding right now.

I wonder how yuurei are even brought to this world anyway. It is unnatural for them to be here, without some kind of place to return to like a grave or a memento. Not unless something is keeping Kirie in that form. One that is keeping her from simply being revived like every damn person who winds up dead here.

I feel like I barely know enough about her as it is.

Kantarou, I'm expecting you to fix that problem soon. I'll listen.

Hm. I'd also like to talk to one of the doctors about a certain matter soon, unless one of you happens to know about the situation with Ganta-kun already.

It's irritating. I don't care much for the missing two days...

Apart from what I can't remember, nothing about me or this city has changed.

I'd like to think that Sorata's theory holds some weight in this, because I don't want to believe that I've only ended up losing more of the memories that I had in this city. If that was part of some kind of joke, then I'm not laughing.

[He gives a grunt off-radio, and then the communicator is switched to the default audio mode. He speaks in Japanese.]

I'm going out for awhile.

[There is a jingle from his shakujou, and then the sound of footsteps across the floor until they eventually fade out and the transmission times out.]

( Fail!Private to Kantarou; Hackable )

Kantarou, if you possess the power to break the seal as you are now, then it shouldn't be hard for you to create one as well.

That boy... I've made my decision.

If the chip inside of my body is ever found, then I want you to take me to one of the warehouses or near the outskirts of the city and seal me within a kekkai. It has to be able to last a week, and so you may have to be there to reinforce it yourself.

To lose control of my powers... I do not know what will happen, or what I will be capable of.

There will be no sense in dragging you, or others down with me for the sake of returning to what I was.
