onikui_tengu: (Haruka/Kantarou - guardian)
Before, you said that things would be fine.

There are things that I wanted to make you see, but it's pointless now. Both you and your "Master" are now gone.

If you were still here, I doubt that you would be able to say those words so easily as you did then, Testament.

[Off-Network // Mariner High School, Rooms 103-105]

Kantarou, you said before that we should try and go somewhere and make ourselves as safe as possible before.

I hope you have a plan.
onikui_tengu: (go away!)
[BZZZZAP!] Tch. It still--...

What?!

[The sound of water sloshing around like large ocean waves is picked up over the receiver, with Haruka struggling to fight against the tide; or the water barrier, as the case may be.

The communicator falls to the floor with a clatter, and apart from a loud muffled cry of frustration... a heavy silence fills the air.
]

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!

[Well, at least for a little while.]

[[As part of Sunao's chip event, Haruka will be trapped inside of the water barrier for 7 hours. It is currently located near Rooms 103-105 in Mariner High School.]]
onikui_tengu: (speechless)
The air is changing again.

Here, the weather has been been sunny and clear. Some of the healthy grass grows near the lake and in the forest, but has a harder time in the city. If there are any wild flowers, then they don't live long either.
There's not enough water or shade, or else the earth is too rotten.

While back home, it wouldn't be long before the rainy season would be upon us.

[...] Sometimes its unsettling to me, just how different things are here. You can only look at the mountains from here...
onikui_tengu: (oni-kui tengu)
... -you want to die? Because if you continue doing whatever you want like this, then your death will only come faster here.

You've become a threat. It would just be easier to hunt you down and have you for dinner.

[While the communicator is shuffled around by the fabric lining Haruka's jacket pocket as he shifts position, the sound of fluttering wings can be heard nearby. Along with the occasional soft cooing of mourning doves.]

Calm down. I'm not interested in doing that, so don't worry.

...If you were brought here the same way as everyone else, then I can understand. You're probably not very happy to be stuck here.

Just-... [BZZZZAP!] AUGH! Shit! [The mourning doves take off in a flurry of panicked movements and wings, startled by Haruka's sudden shout.] Ah-

[...] Hm.

[Click.]
onikui_tengu: (just not in the mood)
This world is called "Fortuna."

A brand new world. Not just a broken city.

Yet you can only go so far until you get knocked down, injured, stricken by disease or killed here. Starved, brutally ripped apart by monsters, crushed or left helpless without a cure...

Even birds can't fly in the sky with total freedom. Because the sky we see everyday might as well just be an illusion. You can only go so high before you're forced back down to the ground.

Being stuck here is like being trapped inside of a rusted steel cage every single day.

[...]

...this city irritates me.
onikui_tengu: (Haruka/Kantarou - guardian)
I need a doctor. One who is able to come to Mariner High School.

If I have to come to you instead, then that will not be a problem either.

[The message is repeated in text, and then the frequency is turned off with a sharp click.]
onikui_tengu: (head-scratching)
[BZZZZAP! Haruka lets out a grunt in pain as the communicator shocks him through his jacket pocket.]

Tch. [It soon goes up, and then down. Right on the ground with an audible clatter. He's been busy, and can do without the interfering spark.]

This is getting old. I guess trying to take this thing apart wouldn't be much of an option either, would it?

[...] I'm running errands for Kantarou, since he feels safer holing himself up in our room with the mistletoe around. Don't ask me why... though I can probably take a wild guess.

Moa-san, I'll be stopping by the inventory soon to pick up a few things. Watch your head.

[[ooc Haruka will be wandering through the high school from his room, and stopping by the Northern Lights for work in case you wanted to get your mistletoe action on.]]
onikui_tengu: (serious minded)
[BZZZZAP!] Urgh... Damn!

[He grunts, reeling an arm back as he's tempted to throw his communicator up against the closest wall.] ... Hmph. [But that's not going to happen. At least not today.]

[Text]

Forget it. I have a question.

Since when have people started freezing in place with no memory of it?

Just what the hell is going on?

[[ooc Haruka saw what you did there, Rolo.]]
onikui_tengu: (shocked)
[BZZZZAP! The communicator emits its periodic shock. A transmission is coming through and it is fiercely smacked away by a hand, where it tumbles across the floor only to end up on its side.]

Ugh...

[In that small view, one can see that the room has been entirely wallpapered with ofuda. Nothing more than a mass of paper and ink. But that's not all. Among the sounds of the jingling scales (and there are quiet a few of them in this room), Haruka can be seen crouched down on the floor. Obviously anguished by something unknown, if not in pain.]

S-... stop it...

[Slowly, he pushes himself up to stand on his feet, breathing harshly and trying not to look up at the walls. Almost deliberately. He brings a hand to his mouth, sounding as if he is going to be sick.]

You bastard...!

[When he finally looks up, his eyes look as if they've changed from their calm hue to something more predatory. Even his teeth look slightly more sharpened when he speaks, as raw electricity can be heard crackling around him.]

DISAPPEAR!

[Suddenly a powerful shock of thunder rips through the room in a bright flash and a jingling from the rings of his shakujou. The view of the room disappears in this light, until--a few seconds later--only Haruka can be seen holding onto his staff among a scattering of black feathers that disappear like illusions. The walls are scorched and blackened. Burned as if they've been sliced apart by a lightening bolt.

Wearily, he looks up.
] An... illusion?

Heh. Stop... screwing... [He starts to topple over.] ...around. [THUD.]

[[ooc Haruka just got a taste of his own medicine forgotten memories, compliments of the Medicine Seller's chip event. Expect a delay in any tags as he's not going to be feeling so hot.]]
onikui_tengu: (I hope you're ready for this)
It's been more than a day already... and that feeling... What the hell was that?

Hmph.

Youko, I'm going out to look for Kantarou. Watch the place while we're gone... I'll bring him back.

Definitely.

[One of the main doors of the high school creaks open, and a pair of giant wings can be heard unfurling. As if they were from a large bird. They beat together, and soon there is a rush of wind as he takes to the skies.]

Where in the world did you go...?

[The sound of his wings can be heard beating together occassionally, until the recording times out.]

[[ooc An unfortunate thing happened on the way to the forum cafeteria, and this tengu is none the wiser.]]
onikui_tengu: (unknowing glance)
Basically, waiting for this illness to "fade" has only proved impossible. Either the affected wind up dying, or the ones who don't have the strength to fight them.

I have no interest in pointing fingers... What I'd like to know instead is why there doesn't seem to be a better solution. Is there no way to develop a medicine to cure or a seal to bind these people?

Their powers and strength are the real problem. Because they can only use it to harm. It is beyond their control to do otherwise. I haven't been proven wrong yet.

Hmph. If anyone sees death as the quickest method of turning this around... You've let this world change you too much. ...You've let them change you too much.
onikui_tengu: (so many questions left unanswered)
[The transmission cuts in to the sound of shifting fabric and a lone pair of footsteps hitting along the asphalt. It must have turned on in one of his jacket pockets by accident.

Out patrolling the streets, there isn't much else to be heard past the occassional breeze or the distant howl of one of the wild wolves.

Suddenly, he stops. His breath hitches, and his fist comes slamming down against the side of an abandoned building with an audible WHUMP.

After a few seconds, a bit of crumbling rock can be heard falling to the ground, and the walk continues on until the feed times out.
]
onikui_tengu: (first strike)
Again...

Starting on Monday, I will be available during the daytime as a bodyguard. Also during evenings or whenever business happens to be slow at the Northern Lights. But that's not really my call to make.

Kisaragi-san's post on the network from yesterday can fill anyone else in on the details.

onikui_tengu: (I've had enough of this!)
It's been happening a lot lately. People being returned to this city from their original worlds. Sometimes with the memories they had before, and some without.

Even I'm not counted out of that number. I can remember where I've been.

But what I want to know is the reason why; not that I expect an answer. Not from the people who would actually have it. ...Why the indecisiveness? Isn't one time good enough for you, Scientists?
Hell. I can't tell if this is something you do out of convenience, or if all you are doing is laughing at all of us.

[...]

What about you, Hunter? This must be convenient for you. You don't have to look far to find your prey anymore. ...Che.

[The frequency is promptly switched off.]
onikui_tengu: (Haruka/Kantarou - master of monster)
The messages in the high school... they've disappeared. No one tried to scrub them away, because there are no markings left behind.

[...]

The revivals... they're chosen. With the ghosts that were wandering through the city, how many of you noticed it?

There had to be a time when death stopped for us. Because they weren't so lucky. It's no wonder that they were acting so restless.

Hm... They must have taken him back. To that Dark Realm he spoke of before.

It's a strange feeling. When they take away the ones who are this close to you.

onikui_tengu: (chibi!Haruka - argh!)
[BBBZZAP! Haruka lets out a angry growl, tossing the communicator to one side. It clatters noisily onto the floor.]

Dammit, it wasn't supposed to-- [Stomping around] Aaah! I hate how messed-up this place is! I can remember pouring that tea with enough leaves in it to give it taste, but it ended up just hot water that day when I could finally go back to work!

[Muttering, he goes to pick his communicator back up. The audio mode is switched off with an audible click.]

I'm fine. I just thought that would have more time. Geh. Usually that sensation isn't so unpleasant.

Of course as soon as I am free to go out, another murder makes the city unsafe to travel alone in. If I had them back, I wouldn't give a damn.

[[ooc Aack! I didn't realize that so much time had passed! orz]]
onikui_tengu: (nothing left to give)
Private; Hackable )

It's getting noisy again.

...Humans have been able to survive for centuries in my own world without ever having to rely on magic or special abilities. What makes the people of this one so different? Always begging like animals...

I'll never understand it. How you can you not see that the scientists have managed to keep us under their thumbs with those chips, only to watch us evntually destroy ourselves later.

Do you really think that it is nothing but a mistake? ...It's all so stu-

[Haruka's voice is suddenly cut off as he lets out a sharp gasp, dropping the communicator onto the floor with a clatter. For a moment, he can be heard breathing harshly, and this continues for a minute or two until there is a soft thud as he falls down onto his knees.] Augh... what is-... [His voice becomes strained, as he is obviously trying to hold himself back. But it is futile. In mere seconds, the tengu lets out a loud and agonized scream of pain, as if it doing so will somehow make it all come to an end.]

[There is an even louder thud. The sound of a body collapsing. More harsh breathing can be heard, followed by coughing and a bit of dry retching. It takes minutes for his breathing to become even again, and for Haruka's voice to be heard again... distant, and weakened.]

What in the hell... was that just now...?
onikui_tengu: (are you even listening to yourself?)
Hm. Is it really only that little hairball that has been able to slip into this city from our world? Keukegen... It better stay away from my hair, or else I'll make sure that it never comes near me again.

There are no oni, barely any yuurei worth mentioning... Hell, there isn't even an amefurikozō. This city completely lacks any spiritual presence, save for a few. It's unnatural. ...No wonder you're so clingy and irritable all the time, Kantarou.

...

Since everyone has been in the mood for questions lately, I think that I have been able to come up with one myself.

What exactly is a monster to you, Discedo?
