I have been thinking about names, and how the nations here have human names. It was something that the one called China told me about some time ago.

Why must humans name everything? Nothing is real to you until you've named it, given it limits.

Why does something need to be named, and what does the name you've been given mean to you?

You can understand something just fine without ever knowing its name.

I'm the embodiment of a country, all the land, people, culture, history, plants, animals, ideas, and everything else that makes up the idea of a nation. But my body looks human, even if it ain't, my organs exist, even if they don't wear, and I don't age much, no matter how old I get. I know what my people are thinking, but I have to obey my bosses, even when I don't agree. I'm not even really sure what "I" is. Where I stop being a representative and start having opinions. A long time ago I'd kill people, but now that's against the law. I used to kill Christians, but now I am one. I have to listen to Germany, even though I kind of hate him, not because I want to, or because my boss wants to, or anyone in my country wants me to, but because he invaded me and somehow owns me. Whenever there's a war, it hurts, and my body parts are different landmasses and cities and things. I don't know how that works, but I just know that Århus is my hand and Copenhagen is my heart, and North Schleswig is somewhere in my leg.

But calling myself "Preben Kierkegaard" is way easier for most humans.

Thinking about the meaning behind your name?

Names are power, they can make something more powerful than it was before, they can focus something when before it was chaotic, and of course they also provide a means to hold and bind.... A name can bring meaning.

Humans no doubt desire to name everything, because we are weak and strive for a place in this complicated and confusing world.

Giving a name gives definition, and in sometimes also says where humans fit in the scheme of things.

My human name represents who I am. Ah.. it is for ease and convenience in certain situations. On the other hand, some of us countries use them to accent more personal points as opposed to country-wide values.
