Someone will have to take my place as the bartender for the next few days. Something came up.

I found him by the graveyard the other night. My gut feeling was right. They were fighting.

But Testament wasn't acting like himself, Bridget. He was fighting with the intent to kill when I found him, and he resisted any attempts at taking him down with all he had. It reminded me of that day he had lost himself in a similar way... I'm sure you haven't forgotten it either.

He's fine, apart from some bruising, and so am I. He is with us at the school, and I have been keeping watch over him and Succubus ever since.

Hmph... [Spoken quietly, as if to someone very closeby. That just so happens to be Succubus perched on his shoulder.] We've both been through quite the ordeal, huh?

Well, let's see...First humanity discovered magic, sometime in the early 2000's. Magic led to creating Gears. The Holy War started in 2074, when Gears annihilated Japan in a rebellion under the Gear "Justice". Testament worked for the Holy Order, who fought Gears efficiently. At some point he became a Gear, but his will was usurped by Justice. Justice used him to fight for Gears against humanity. The war ended around 2174, Testament disappeared for awhile. I hear he tried to start some trouble with a tournament, according to May.

Anyway, I met him months later, taking care of Dizzy. Eventually I managed to get him to agree to letting me care for Dizzy and give her a real life with socialization.

Since then he's refused to leave the Demon's Forest, but we visit occasionally. Then one day we all ended up here.

Should I not? He attacked when we initially went there. He attacked me when Dizzy fell off our ship, he attacked me again when we met up as I was going to save. He's attacked me since then, too. Actually, we've fought a lot in my world. Only once here, and he wasn't in his right mind.

Why do you ask, is he being strange? He's depowered, so I wouldn't worry too much. At least I think he is.

Yes... But it's over. At least for now.

Kantarou and I were able to take him down. But he was aiming to take Kantarou's head. ...If it started out as a grudge match between the two of them, something had happened to make it go horribly wrong.

Well, he really doesn't like Japanese people much. Maybe Kantarou he insulted Gears. Testament may have been human, but considers himself Gear, now. Slights against Gears tend to piss him off.

Just call me if he gets uppity. I was at least able to keep pace with him when we were both at full capacity. With only my chip out, it won't be hard.

I could have cared less if Kantarou decided to get involved in a fight on his own, Johnny. He capable of defending himself, and I'm not going to clean up after him all the time for what he chooses to do. But he took my shakujou, and something about Testament was already off.
